Suikoden I&II HD Remaster 7 CD Soundtrack Available for Pre-order

As part of the Suikoden I&II HD remaster, Konami is releasing a 7 CD soundtrack for release in January 2025. Similar to the games’ original soundtracks, Suikoden’s score is 2 CDs, and Suikoden II’s soundtrack is 4 CDs long. An additional bonus CD of arrangements and “music box” versions of songs from both games is included in the set.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 9 CD Soundtrack Available for Pre-order

Nintendo of Japan has announced a nine CD release of the soundtrack for Tears of the Kingdom for pre-order, scheduled to release July 31st, 2024. Returning from her duties on Breath of the Wild, composer Manaka Kataoka was joined by composers Tsukasa Usui, Maasa Miyoshi, and Masato Ohashi for the soundtrack. Collectively, these composers have created a soundtrack that carries forward the mysterious themes from the game’s predecessor, while adding both lofty themes for the sky sections and oppressive sounds for the underground areas. While the game is more iterative than its revolutionary predecessor, I felt the game’s technically intense and emotional finale surpassed the series’s pinnacle ending of The Wind Waker.

The album is largely a combination of songs from the last two Distant Worlds tours: the Final Fantasy VII Remake tour and the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary tour. It also features a previously unreleased rendition of Final Fantasy VIII’s “Eyes on Me” performed by Final Fantasy XIV vocalist Susan Calloway.

The Live A Live remake CD soundtrack, composed by Yoko Shimomura, is shipping soon.

The 2 CD soundtrack to Square Enix’s remake of the Super Famicom era JRPG, Live A Live, is shipping soon. Both the original and remake’s soundtracks are composed by Yoko Shimomura, who also composed Street Fighter 2, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Mana, and Kingdom Hearts. The remake of Live A Live is the first time this game has been localized outside of Japan, and is currently available worldwide for the Nintendo Switch.

Square Enix has recently announced two Final Fantasy compilation albums available on vinyl. One is a two disc orchestral compilation for the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy. This set features new cover artwork by Yoshitaka Amano. The second vinyl release is a Final Fantasy album featuring one song from each of the first ten games, newly arranged by Nobuo Uematsu.
