The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 9 CD Soundtrack Available for Pre-order

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an action adventure game developed and published by Nintendo on May 12, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. This follow-up to the seminal Breath of the Wild received numerous awards, including The Game Awards “Best Action/Adventure Game” of 2023. While the game is more iterative than its revolutionary predecessor, I felt the game’s technically intense and emotional finale surpassed the series’s pinnacle ending of The Wind Waker.

Returning from her duties on Breath of the Wild, composer Manaka Kataoka was joined by composers Tsukasa Usui, Maasa Miyoshi, and Masato Ohashi for the soundtrack of Tears of the Kingdom. Collectively, these composers have created a soundtrack that carries forward the mysterious themes from the game’s predecessor, while adding both lofty themes for the sky sections and oppressive sounds for the underground areas.

Nintendo of Japan has announced a nine CD release of the soundtrack for Tears of the Kingdom. The soundtrack is scheduled to release July 31st, 2024 with a massive 344 tracks. A Limited Edition includes a Master Sword-shaped USB drive with fifteen high-resolution surround sound FLAC files. While a Western release has not been announced, the soundtrack can be pre-ordered from Amazon Japan, Playasia, and CD Japan.
