Soundtracks for Super Mario RPG Available for Pre-order in Vinyl (2023 Remaster) and CD (1996 and 2023)
Square Enix is currently taking pre-orders for the soundtracks to both the original 1996 SNES Super Mario RPG and the 2023 Switch remaster. They are releasing the soundtrack for the remaster in both a 2-CD option or 4-disc vinyl option. Additionally, a collection of both of the 2-CD soundtracks for the original and remaster is available, and it includes a complete track commentary written by composer Yoko Shimomura herself. The expected release date is April 2025.
The Live A Live remake CD soundtrack, composed by Yoko Shimomura, is shipping soon.
The 2 CD soundtrack to Square Enix’s remake of the Super Famicom era JRPG, Live A Live, is shipping soon. Both the original and remake’s soundtracks are composed by Yoko Shimomura, who also composed Street Fighter 2, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Mana, and Kingdom Hearts. The remake of Live A Live is the first time this game has been localized outside of Japan, and is currently available worldwide for the Nintendo Switch.
Chrono Trigger jazz album available for pre-order
Square Enix’s newest jazz album features jazz arrangements of the classic Chrono Trigger. The album is arranged by trombonist Eijiro Nakagawa and bassist Ryu Kawamura. They bring a fresh take on Yasunori Mitsuda’s original soundtrack, which is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
Trials of Mana 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert CD announced
A CD release of the Trials of Mana 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert that took place on June 26th, 2021 has been announced. The performance by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra will be released on October 27th, 2021, and is available for pre-order now.
Final Fantasy VI Inspired Album Featuring Amano Cover Announced
Label Channel 3 Records has announced a vinyl release of the Final Fantasy VI inspired album Esperwave by Natsukashii. The album features beautiful cover art by Final Fantasy series illustrator Yoshitaka Amano. The album will be available for order on August 13, 2021.
