Chrono Trigger jazz album available for pre-order
Chrono Trigger was released by Square for the Super Nintendo in 1995, and has since been ported to multiple consoles. It's widely considered to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and is notable for its collaboration between Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of Final Fantasy), Yuji Hori (the creator of Dragon Quest), and Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball). The collaboration was more notable at the time given that Square and Enix (the publisher of Dragon Quest) had not merged at the time.
Chrono Trigger is considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time, and the soundtrack is also considered to be one of the best game soundtracks ever. It was primarily composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, who was a new composer at the time. He has since worked on the soundtracks for Chrono Cross, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and many other titles.
Square Enix has announced a new album in their Square Enix Jazz series, one that will feature arrangements of the songs from Chrono Trigger. It will feature work by trombonist Eijiro Nakagawa and bassist Ryu Kawamura, and will feature eleven tracks. This is the fifth Square Enix Jazz album, the previous ones have featured arrangements from the Final Fantasy series, Square Enix generally, Final Fantasy VII, and the SaGa series. The Chrono Trigger album is available to pre-order now and is scheduled to be released January 2022.
