Trials of Mana 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert CD announced

Trials of Mana was originally released by Square in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995 for the Super Famicom. While a North American release of this sequel to Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2) for Super Nintendo was rumored, it was never ultimately officially localized for Nintendo’s 16-bit console. Despite the game being text-intensive, Square-Enix localized this game over 20 years later as Trials of Mana, a part of the Collection of Mana for the Switch. This 2019 collection collected the first three games in the Seiken Densetsu series, Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and Trials of Mana.

Trials of Mana was originally composed by Hiroki Kikuta, who also composed the soundtrack for Secret of Mana. For the 25th anniversary of the Japanese release of Seiken Densetsu, Square Enix announced a concert with an orchestral arrangement by Sachiko Miyano, performed by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Originally scheduled for 2020, the concert was delayed a year by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Square Enix did hold the concert and released it online a year later, and is now releasing a CD recording of this performance. The release is scheduled for October 27th, 2021. While not yet available for purchase in the North American Square Enix store, the release is available through multiple Japanese retailers.
