Final Fantasy IX vinyl available for pre-order for July 2022 release

Square Enix released Final Fantasy IX in 2000 on the PlayStation. As the last Final Fantasy title on the PlayStation, it was intended to be a reflection on the past of the series, as opposed to the more futuristic setting of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII.

In keeping with the retrospective theme of the game, Final Fantasy IX was the last Final Fantasy composed exclusively by Nobuo Uematsu. The music has allusions to themes from prior games, and has a touch of medieval sound, which fits the game’s setting.

Square Enix has listed a two-disc vinyl release for Final Fantasy IX. The release features 25 tracks from the game’s soundtrack, including popular tracks such as “Melodies of Life” and “Roses of May”. The release is planned for July 2022.
