Zelda: Skyward Sword CD soundtrack available for pre-order

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was released by Nintendo for the Wii in November 2011., and an HD remaster was released for the Switch in July 2021. The game is memorable for its bright art style and its extensive use of motion controls. The soundtrack was primarily directed by Hajime Wakai, with contributions by Shiho Fujii, Mahito Yokota, Takeshi Hama, and Koji Kondo.

Skyward Sword was the first Zelda game with music mostly performed by a live orchestra instead of synthesized instruments. Whereas the next game in the series, Breath of the Wild, has a more ambient soundtrack, Skyward Sword retains the energetic and melodic character of prior Zelda games. Thus, Skyward Sword’s soundtrack is unique in that it combines the classic Zelda musical energy with the live orchestral sound of more modern marquee Nintendo games.

While Nintendo never released a physical soundtrack for Skyward Sword at its original release, they have announced a release for the 10th anniversary of the game, November 23rd, 2021. The soundtrack consists of 5 CDs, and ships in two versions, a regular version, and a limited edition version that includes a music box that plays “Ballad of the Goddess” (see video below). They can be pre-ordered from Amazon Japan, which ships internationally
